CELOS Touch UI Design & Dev

For the CELOS X ecosystem, our studio focused on a "Total Manufacturing Integration" aesthetic. The objective was to simplify the high-stakes environment of CNC machining into a clean, app-based interface that feels as responsive as a consumer tablet but carries the structural weight of heavy industry. By utilizing a high-contrast, dark-mode UI with vibrant status indicators, we ensured that critical data—from energy monitoring to tool management—is legible from across the shop floor, reducing operator error and maximizing machine uptime.

The Full-Stack Industrial Pipeline

The development of CELOS X required a rigorous, multi-stage engineering workflow:

  • Architectural Wireframing: We utilized Balsamiq to map out complex user flows, ensuring that every touchpoint in the tool management and monitoring sequence was logically sound before a single pixel was rendered.

  • Asset Mastering: Using Photoshop and Illustrator, we designed a custom library of industrial icons and specialized UI components that maintain absolute clarity at any resolution.

  • Frontend Engineering: Moving beyond static design, we handled the frontend development in WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation). This allowed us to build a robust, low-latency interface capable of handling real-time data streams and complex machine telemetry with a "Zero-Lag" response time.

The HMI Challenges

The primary hurdle for ROBUST was "Environmental Friction"—designing for a physical space where operators might be wearing gloves or working in low-light conditions. We solved this by implementing large touch targets and haptic-friendly layouts that provide clear visual feedback for every command. Another significant challenge was the integration of "Application Connectors," allowing the operator to remotely control external PCs and third-party apps directly from the machine console. By obsessing over the micro-interactions in the NTX 500 and other machine hubs, we successfully fused industrial power with an elegant, future-ready user experience.
